Don't pick a university based only on Instagram reels and fake rankings. Here are 7 verification points every parent should run through before paying any fee.
1. NMC recognition β verify on the official list
Always verify the university on the latest NMC list at nmc.org.in. Don't rely on screenshots from agents β universities can be added or removed every year. The university should also appear in the World Directory of Medical Schools (search.wdoms.org).
2. Fee structure β locked for 6 years
Get the fee structure in writing for the entire course duration. Many agents show first-year fees only and increase later. Make sure tuition, hostel, exam and other fees are clearly broken down.
3. Medium of instruction
Confirm the actual medium of instruction at the international faculty. Some universities teach in English in early years and switch to local language in clinical years. We share a clear language pattern for every university we represent.
4. Hostel β separate boys and girls, on or near campus
Hostels should be inside or walking distance from the main university block. Ask for separate boys and girls hostels with 24/7 CCTV security. Personally verify hostel photos and current student feedback.
5. Indian food and mess
Indian mess on or near campus is non-negotiable. Confirm whether the mess is run by the university, a third-party Indian contractor or a private vendor. Pure-vegetarian options should also be available.
6. FMGE / NExT coaching during course
From 4th year, students need structured FMGE coaching. Confirm whether the university partners with Indian coaching faculty or has its own program. This single factor decides your final outcome more than any ranking.
7. Direct payment to university
Always pay tuition directly to the university bank account, never to an agent. Get an official invoice with university letterhead. This is the single biggest red flag check parents should make.
